Name of your website?Cyprus Rentals
Your name?
Andrew Hull
Your Location (city, etc)
Paphos
When did you start your website and why?
There is a lack of a Holiday Rentals site run by Cypriots, which could give the owners and/or Agents the opportunity to run their business from one site, i.e. booking calendars, take credit card payments, upload property details, and communicate with the Renters and retain all correspondence on the site. For the Renters, a simple registration process allows them to communicate with the owners and make payments, again retaining all correspondence on the site etc
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
The business model is three fold 1) Allow Owners and Agents to list/control their properties for a small fee 2) We act as agents for owners for a fee when a property is booked 3) The site is modular and can be adapted for other places, on this basis we are considering franchising the site for an annual fee
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
From a technical point of view, using the client server model which was implemented, click a button and you get an answer without a page refresh, or the web page is reprogrammed on the fly.
From a graphic/textual point, very difficult, it is still in development
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
Renting the server!!! The site really looks after its self, and code errors are emailed to the site admin, with a detailed report (we are not perfect OK) Communication between the parties are self operating as are the payments
What was your biggest mistake?
Under estimating the amount of time it would take to get the structure and code in place
Who maintains your website and why?
The Guy who designed and wrote the code maintains the site (Me) and I take an active part in the business
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
The web site is the business, so the go hand in hand, no web site no business
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
As long as people trust the security on the web, it will continue to grow
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
All the stuff I have read about SEO, and been offered by SEO companies make my blood run cold, a quick fix and you will be on page 1 of Google etc, doorway pages etc, no way. The site has been designed to give people what they want, and it is good for SE crawlers, that should give us the rankings we need.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
In general SE's have helped the web greatly, and they keep refining there models to give better results. There is some way to go yet.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Standard SEO Techniques and networking with associated sites to create a presence
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
None so far
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
IPV6, Stop email spam, down all the fake sites, I hope !!
Really it is going the way it should be, a more interactive client server model, which still in its infancy
What is your website address?
