Please give us a short summary of your website?
Buycyprus.co.uk is a property listing site focused on the island of Cyprus.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I wanted to launch a site that was simple and easy to use - free of clutter.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
A few years ago - it was about pop music.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I thought BuyCyprus.co.uk neatly summed up what the site was about.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Hopefully it is easier to use and read. Property sites can try and do too much and end up cluttered, www.buycyprus.co.uk is meant to be a simplified version of those sites.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Hopefully the site will provide an reasonable income, as well as a healthy batch of happy customers.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The site has just literally launched, so it's hard to say. Hopefully by the summer, when the market is supposedley at it's peak, we will have a fairer idea.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Probably provide some kind of video facility so users of the site could see around the various properties in Cyprus.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Hopefully so, but I would be worried about ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. As we are dealing with Cyprus properties, there can be a lot of time invested into each client.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Probably just the time it takes to work out the teething problems.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Probably getting listed in the search engines.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I've used Adwords before and that was quite succesful, but she is a fickle mistress.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Probably just the competion out on the web. It seems every man and his dog has a website.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The sites been live for about a week or so. If traffic drives up, I guess it will be mothballed.
what would you regard as progress for your site?
Probably getting www.buycyprus.co.uk listed in the search engines.
