When did you start your website and why?

The RLA website has been running successfully for the past 5 years and is aimed at providing UK landlord with all the help, advice and support needed to manage thier business as easily as possible.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

We are a non-profit organisation who provide online services including legal advice, legal documentation, guidence notes on various aspects of managing rented property and we even provide a landlords forum allowing members to network with thousands of other landlords around the UK.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

It hasn't really been difficult as we have plenty of contacts who have been able to help and website development is my passion, so it was always going to work.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

It's level of information and advice make's it easy to attract returning visitors. It's a pleasure to work with.

What was your biggest mistake?

Not preparing for this questionnaire !

Who maintains your website and why?

We use a third party company who are local as we wanted to concentrate on servicing our members as best as we can.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

Because of our website, we have tranformed into a truly national organisation and as such, we now have well over 5,000 members across the UK.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I have been working in web develoment and e-commerce for the past 13 years and have seen it develop hugely. The world is becoming more trusting in the technology and as such our live's are changing for the better.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

It will always be around as long as search engines are. The model may change and theories will always be discussed on the online communities, but SEO is here to stay !

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

We concentrate our efforts on Google, it has helped us considerably over years and that is still getting better.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Our members provide the best marketing via word of mouth and paid advertising is hugely beneficial in spreading the word.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Radio Advertising. It's a great media, but not suitable for my clients.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Police the terrorism and pawn. The internet can be a nice place, but we all need to work together to make it just that!

What is your favourite food?

Duck and Orange pate on cream crackers. Yum!
