Florida rental advertising RentBlurb.com Interview
Name of your website?

RentBlurb.com

Your name?

RentBlurb

Your Location (city, etc)

Sanford

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Established in 2004, RentBlurb.com is a locally-focused home rental advertising website. It offers FREE search and was designed to be user-friendly, including side-by-side comparisons for which to choose from. With RentBlurb.com available Orlando Rental Homes do not have to compete alongside thousands of other properties for rent like on other national websites. In addition, the site is clean and focused and does not bombard the visitor with advertising and other static which can take away from the sites primary goal - to assist renters and property managers.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I was a renter looking for a home. I was frustrated at trying to navigate through long endless pages and clutter. Sometimes it took as many as 12 clicks just to get to a single prospective home. With Rentblurb.com its less than 3 clicks.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

2004...RentBlurb.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I was looking at really short (and expensive!) blurbs in the classified section of the Orlando Sentinel advertising homes for rent.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

It's clean. It was made for renters by a renter.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To service the entire Orlando market. To be the main site that Orlando renters and Property managers use.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We're doing rather well. We have many loyal customers.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Add a blog.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Big conglomerates coming in and buying out the competition like RentClicks.com, sdisconnecting themselves even further from the everyday renter.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Being covered by WESH Channel 2, Orlando Business Journal, 580 WDBO, the Orlando Sentinel and others.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It has surpassed my expectations.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

4 years now and I will run it and continue to improve it for the foreseeable future.

What is your website address?

RentBlurb.com
