Idaho high equity Make my own house Interview
Name of your website?

Make my own house

Your name?

Larry Angell

Your Location (city, etc)

Saint Anthony

Please give us a short summary of your website?

An instructional site that teaches people how to build their own homes that are high in equity. It teaches all the different aspects of the home building process from start to finish.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

After building many homes, I could see that homeowners can save almost two-thirds the cost of the house buy doing their own labor. I built my own house and saved sixty percent of the entire cost by doing all my own labor. I decided to pass on what I have learned because it helps people.

I wrote a book about housebuilding and I needed a way to sell the book. I have sold hundreds of copies via my website, but now I have integrated the book into my site for free.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launched my first website two years ago. It is www.make-my-own-house.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I worked through SitebuildIt and decided to use keywords that are high in demand and low in supply. That's why it is "Make my own house" and not "Build your own house", those keywords were already heavily used.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I give all my information away for free and don't sell anything. I also give away much more information than most house building sites.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I am already earning over $2,000 a month from ads, I want to make it bigger, and get more traffic. I am getting 2500 unique visitors a day. It is my goal to reach 10,000 a day in two years.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It has finally paid off and will continue to reward me as I get it going bigger and better.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would include many more instructional videos about house building.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, I don't have to fill orders or anything. I have unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None at all.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Finding the time to work on my website. I have invested around four hundred hours on my site so far. I have a full-time job and it is difficult to find the time to answer site visitor emails. My site is my passion, though and I will continue.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Writing articles and submitting them to the bigger article sites.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I have received many emails of praise and gratitude for my efforts. I didn't know people really cared about my site until after it was launched.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I would still keep it going for a few years if those conditions were realized, however, for the time being, my traffic is growing each month and my success is constantly improving.

Would you recommend building a website to other people?

I would recommend it and do recommend it. I have many family members and friends that I am working closely with. I am using the same methods for their sites that I have used on my own. I know the methods work.

What is your website address?

Make my own house
