Find information about rent-to-own houses using the lease with option to purchase method. Local investors that have houses available on a rent-to-own program.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Our company was trying to locate rent-to-own home buyers using traditional methods (newspaper, signs, etc.) and decide to launch a website.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
We launched our first rent to own website in the fall of 2005. It was RentToOwn-MN.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We wanted a name for our rent to own website that would help people find rent to own homes.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We have tons of information about rent-to-own, lease option, contract for deed, lease with option to purchase and a lot of investors that advertise on our site.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To add an MLS styled directory that would allow investors and people that want to sell a house fast to list their home for rent-to-own.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It is very time consuming but quite rewarding knowing that we are able to educate people about the rent-to-own process while at the same time providing a means for them to contact rent to own home sellers.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would add a directory which would allow home sellers to post pictures and information about the various rent-to-own properties available.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Most likely not. It is not a real profitable website so, there isn't ennough revenue to support additional help.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
So far it has went quite smooth. It is just hard keeping up with emails of people wanting to know specific details.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Earning revenue to justify the time we spend on the website.
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
Waiting for Google, MSN and yahoo to index our site.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I thought we would be able to find more houses ourselves.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We have run this rent to own website for 2.5 years and will continue to keep it goind as long as their is interest in rent-to-own.
What areas or regions do you cover?
The entire USA (United States of America) is able to take advantage of rent-to-own programs. Other countries might have different requirements or regulations regarding lease with option to purchase programs the US does.
