Name of your website?Bellefontaine Ohio For Sale by Owner
Your name?
Gloria Smith
Your Location (city, etc)
Bellefontaine, Ohio
Please give us a short summary of your website?
BellefontaineFSBO.com gives home sellers the opportunity to go beyond the standard newspaper ad when advertising their home for sale by owner.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I started this website after selling my own home for sale by owner. I knew that 80% of people start their search on the internet to buy a home and I needed an online advertisment.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched my very first website around 2003 and it was a legal forms website that was specific to real estate forms and contracts.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Since my site will server only local home sellers - Bellefontaine (name of the city) and FSBO stand for For Sale by Owner.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
This website is advertised locally so home sellers benefit from their own advertising as well as the websites.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to provide a useful service that will at least pay for itself.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I just launched the site a few weeks ago.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would advertise more in the local paper and classifieds ad.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes I think I am prepared for that.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Just explaining to people exactly how the site works.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting the word out
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
A lot of people have found it by searching google, yahoo, and msn.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
So far it has been exactly as I expected. I do not expect to make money the first year. This is a new kind of service locally and it will take time for people to catch on to the idea.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
This site just launched January 1, 2008 and I hope to keep it up and running for many years to come.
