Name of your website?

Mobile Settlement Services, Inc.

Your name?

Pamela A. Rader

Your Location (city, etc)

Drexel Hill

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We are a full service title insurance company, offering most services online. We frequently work with real estate investors, and we have services designed for their needs - such as speedy lien searches. We also offer title insurance for everyone else, whether it be a purchase, refi, or construction transaction.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

It seems like the only way to be known in the world is to have a website, so we figured we'd better start one up.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

The first one was also for Mobile Settlement Services, Inc., and was started about 1 1/2 years ago. It was tiny, just a few plages, so that we were on the web.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We wanted a name that reflected the business, and mobile-settlements.com was easy to read, easy to spell, and says what the company does.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The mobile part. Most title companies expect busy folks who are moving, busy working, or whatever, to drop what they are doing and run to their office to sign their loan documents. We try to help that part of the equation by going to people where they are - new home, old home, restaurant, mobile home - where ever they are!

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We plan on keeping this website, and expanding it to eventually have every service we office online. We'd like our customers to be able to do everything from their computer until we need to come to them to sign documents.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far, it's been pretty decent. We knew it would cost a little, and take some work, but that's definitely an investment we're willing to make.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We'd convert everything to a very cool Flash website, and have everything we do online.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, we have the staff ready to handle it. Right now it only takes a few people to handle our volume.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Learning keywords - and how to bid on them. No being educated in internet advertising enough, we seriously overstated our bids and what we were willing to spend in advertising. That cost us a bundle, and caused days worth of headaches and we tried to learn retroactively.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Making a mark! We're one of hundreds of title companies in our state alone, so making our presence felt on the internet has been one big mountain to climb.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth - many of our visitors have gotten our link from another user.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I didn't expect the amount of work I'd have to do once I had it up and running. I kind of thought (being new to this) that I'd make a website, put it on the internet, and I'd be done. Now I know better!

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The current site has been up for about 9 months, and even if it never gains huge traffic or popularity, it will remain up as long as the company continues, which I would like to hope means indefinitely.

What is your website address?

Mobile Settlement Services, Inc.
