Name of your website?

Spanish property for sale | Mijas Villas | Mijas Properties | Costa del Sol | Spain | Fincas

Your name?

John Larkham

Your Location (city, etc)

Carretera de Mijas km1, Mijas, Malaga, Costa del Sol

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We at Mijas Real Estate S L offer a wide selection of properties for sale in Mijas, Mijas Golf, Mijas Pueblo, Fuengirola & Mijas Costa areas on the Costa del sol in Spain. We continuously try to keep our website as up to date as possible and also provide a vast variety of topics all about living in Spain including your everyday needs. We also have a selection of cars for sale and include many clients cars listed online.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We have had our website up and running for quite some time now around the year 2000 and have more recently increased it's exposure to the web to maximise on our potential audience.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I first launched a car related website back around 1999 which was very successful considering at the time the internet was still in its early stages when most people still had a dial-up connection but as time moved on and so did the popularity of adsl broadband.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name came from the company name i chose and hence i used the same name for the website. I found providing detailed information on all the cars helped to get the website talked about and hence the hits came in but at the time local paper advertising the website was also a big part of it.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We try to keep it as simple as possible as not everyone has the same amount of computer experience as others and hence some will find some websites just too cluttered. We also try to provide as much detail but in a simple way with lots of images and pictures.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We hope to expand it greatly from where it is now and with a growing family pass it down to the younger generation and let them keep it a successful running concern.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

There is a vast amount of time spent on the website and its optimisation, this does have its rewards, but with real estate there are many variables and sensibly priced properties is where the market is right now, so we'll surf the waves as and when we get the right wave. Mijas Real Estate S L being established for over 11 years now, with my colleague having over 16 years experience in the Spanish property market place, we have the advantage over some of the more recent companies out there.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We wouldn't really do a lot more than the way it is right now, maybe do some more advertising in other sectors to expand our exposure out there, but the internet is the way forward in todays growing technology with more people buying computers, we feel the optimisation and content is the way forward as more people are virtually buying their dream property online.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

If the expansion grew really quickly it would only need the addition of the right experienced motivated employees and perhaps another branch.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Nothing really serious, just the usual ups and downs of running a business and keeping focused on the goal ahead. The learning to adapt to the ever changing market out there.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Moulding the website to provide excellent content for end-users, the optimisation of it, the learning of html and various other factors. Keeping ahead of the competition is always a challenge and is very necessary in todays world.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Advertising in various publications getting the company name out there and promoting the website address, plus of course the internet and the seo.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Much more work than i ever thought it would be but that normally is the case

What is your website address?
