Turkey property for sale My Home in the Sun-Turkey.com Interview
Name of your website?

My Home in the Sun-Turkey.com

Your name?

Wendy

Your Location (city, etc)

Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Please give us a short summary of your website?

It's a website that specialises in property for sale in Turkey only. Not only does it feature properties for sale in a number of resorts in Turkey, it's also informative, giving country info, resort information, facts about Turkey, also information about the buying process and how we can help you buy your dream home in Turkey

What inspired you to launch your own website?

A friend of mine is a real estate agent in Turkey and he suggested I partner with him in the Uk. Plus I love the country and really wanted try something new.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first and only website and has been live since November 2007.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I could'nt decide, so I picked my husbands brains, he came up with a few, but I liked My Home in the Sun-Turkey best.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

It's simplicity. It's easy to navigate,user friendly, informative. It's not flashy,but classy.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Eventually, I would like to go back to my web designer, probably in the next few months or so and make a few changes, nothing too drastic. Add a few more features, but still keep it simple.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It's early days yet, but hopefully the time and effort I put into the site, will all be worthwhile.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I don't think I would do anything too drastic, I love my website, I had a lot of input into it whilst it was being built. Probably add features, where users could save properties they like. Maybe an admin panel for users.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Probably not. I currently update the site myself, so I would probably need help.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Nothing major. During the first two weeks the site went live, my web designer and I made very small changes before I was completley happy with it.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Juggling family life and dealing with the website.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Advertising on other sites, free listings, paid listings. A combination of the two.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I did'nt realise it would be so much work, but I enjoy it.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's been runniing for about 5 months and I would like to keep it running indefinitely, hopefully.

What is your website address?
