Name of your website?http://www.suncasa.co.uk
Your name?
Ed Hall
Your Location (city, etc)
Newcastle upon Tyne
Please give us a short summary of your website?
This website is to promote the sale or rental of properties belonging to family members or close friends.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Initially I was retired and bored, so I learned to build simple websites. It was fun, so here we are again.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Nov 2006 http://www.loniesport.com (friends sports retailer shop)
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I thought of a name with an obvious connection, then checked availability and kept trying until I got something I liked as appropriate as possible.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
It's very factual, based on known local knowledge, free from gobbledegook, focused on the subject without distractions.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To help friends and family and have fun. Possibly develop it but keep it simple and earn income from appropriate advertising.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The money is peanuts, the time is leisuretime fun, and the success so far is an operational website. Hopefully the success will develop into some results others will appreciate
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I'd use dreamweaver instead of an on line site wizard, and give myself more scope for development and control of my site. I'd seriously look at making money for my efforts.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No problem with costs so far, but to develop the site with google adwords and other marketing gizmos I'd need to charge for their inclusion in my site. The headaches all relate to setting up the site administration, hosting, and getting answers when what should have worked didn't.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Initially learning dreamweaver, then getting the hosting company to respond to support requests in understandable terminology.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Too early to tell, but key word selection, and body text association seem to be working ok.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It's more or less as I expected
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Suncasa :- 4 weeks Artasyoulikeit :- 3 months Loniesport :- 12 months. now off the net
Did you have any problems registering or transferring your domain names?
Registering No Transferring Yes. It seems whoever registers your domain name expect to do the website hosting, and should you choose hosting elsewhere the registerer does not like it and becomes very obstructive, causing needless delay with stupid requests for information they already have.
What is your website address?
