Please give us a short summary of your website?
Company website with enhanced virtual tours and pictures for customers to view when searching to buy a home. Information about Real Estate
What inspired you to launch your own website?
A customized professional website is needed in todays business, as 87% of buyers and sellers go to the website to search for homes before talking with a sales person
When did you launch your real estate website?
Real Estate for 2 was launched January 2, 2004 and has been growing ever since.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name of our website was decided on giving a short domain name that people could remember. We took our name Real Estate for 2, and reduced it to RE42.com
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Our website has many added features than most other sites on the internet. It is very specific to Real Estate and helping the public view homes very easily like reading a book.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our goal is to have consistent growth in the future, and become one of the largest real estate franchises in the United States.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Many hours in the beginning, but with any business if you don't invest time there will be no money. Working a maximum of 10 hours a day 5-6 days a week is our limit as work with no play will soon cause extreme burnout. We want to grow and our customers are very well taken care of, but life and family is our number one priority.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would be able to grow faster by being able to have larger exposure and to have more people see our product.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes! We have enough REALTORS to handle an extreme demand. More help is easily obtained as well.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Website cost, franchise attorneys, book keeping, taxes. You name it when you start a new business you can count on at least double the time and money on what you thought you were going to have.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Website bugs, and constantly updating and improving our website. Other than that things have run pretty smoothly as we have been in the industry for many years.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth, and print ads...
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
More time involved, but with the exposure and our response from buyers it is well worth it.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We are currently in our fourth year of busines. We have increase our sales by 20% each year.
Why did you start this business, and where do you see yourself in 10 years?
This business was started because we seen a huge need for a menu of options to choose from in the real estate business. Typically a real estate commission is 6%. Real Estate for 2 offers a menu of commission options to choose from starting as low as 2%. Lower fees while still being effective. We also implemented a 30% revenue sharing program for owners. Within 10 years we see ourselves in the spotlight with more than 50 franchises, and sharing revenue with all of our owners making Real Estate for 2 a great company to work with and to be a part of.
