Please give us a short summary of your website?
Detelli Property Network (http://www.detelli.com) is a company focused on the online developement of advertising houses for rent.
Of course we also list other rental properties, such as townhomes, apartments, condos, and other properties for rent across the United States.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Actually, it comes from the very basic need. I went online to search for a house for rent, not an apartment, but a house. And I would say that 90% of the time, what would show up, while doing a search for "houses for rent", was apartment. It was annoying that I couldn't find a quality site offering houses for rent.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first site was Sim Sonic Electronics. It was an electronics site, such as T.V.'s DVD players, items like that. Unfortunatly, in a field where there is so many cheap deals online, it was very hard to compete, and we had to close our virtual doors.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I just started writing random letters, most the words made no sense. But the final was I have always liked italian, food and women, and I did a search for italian last names. I ended up combining two last names to come up with Detelli.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
For one the site is growing very rapidly, and the usefulness of actually having houses for rent is a key point. And as of right now listing your house for rent, apartment for rent, townhouse for rent, or other properties for rent, it's all Free.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I see a large network of sites, offering great services to the user. Detelli Property Network is just one of the many too come.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far the financial side has not been too much. The time on the other hand of researching other rental classifieds site has been very time consuming.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would think of the ideas that I would like added to Detelli, and a team would make it a reality.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, from day one, I thought if Detelli is going to be a success, then I will need it to be automated. So someone could list thier apartments for rent, or houses for rent, with no attention needed from Detelli staff.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None really, the hardest thing is that I wrote all the code myself, and you will get stuck at times.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Marketing to the online croud without breaking the bank.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Directories, and a lot of time searching for houses for rent.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
The only difference is that I was hoping to get faster name branding, but good things come to those who wait.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The sites been live since Sept 1st, 2007. And it's all automated, so I will not need to much concern over it.
