Banks and loan servicers are a big problem with this rotten economy

Why is it that banks and loan servicers can't see beyond the nose on their face and see that they are a huge reason that our economy will stay in the toilet for a lot longer?

Take for example these stories in Atlanta, where banks hold out, hold out, and hold out some more when investors with cash in hand offer to buy properties where the owners are unable to make the payments, and then when they finally foreclose on the owner, they sell the same properties to the same investors for a lot less.
