Pre-existing damage and security deposits

On 03/01/09 00:06, mitchell Chuich asked the following question:

My landlord is claiming that pre-existing floor damage was caused by me. there are three month's left on my lease after which i will be leaving. I am confident he will deduct his repairs to the floor from my security deposit. Is there a way to settle this issue before the last month. can i withhold my last month's rent. help!
